Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is a virtual table?
A virtual table functions as your organization's booth inside the Virtual Career Fair. It provides a dedicated, branded space where employers can share information about their organization, promote open positions, and receive resumes from interested applicants.
Republican Jobs can design and set up your virtual table for you, or we can provide your team with access to design and customize your own table.
Virtual tables for participating legislative offices will be designed and set up by Republican Jobs.
What is the Capitol Jobs Network Virtual Career Fair (Powered by Republican Jobs)?
The Capitol Jobs Network Virtual Career Fair is an online career fair connecting job seekers with political and conservative employers across the country. Attendees can explore career opportunities, visit virtual employer booths, connect directly with organizations that are actively hiring, and attend webinars throughout the day.
The career fair is primarily geared toward entry- and mid-level candidates seeking opportunities with nonprofits and other political organizations, as well as candidates at all experience levels interested in state capitol and other post-election hiring opportunities.
While the event is less focused on professionals with 10+ years of industry experience, experienced candidates are still welcome to apply, attend, connect with employers, and explore available opportunities.
How can I participate in the career fair?
Applicants must apply to attend the Capitol Jobs Network Virtual Career Fair. Submitting an application or registering for the event does not guarantee admission.
Applications will be reviewed and approved on a rolling basis, with priority given to candidates who submit complete, professional applications and appear to be a strong fit for the types of employers participating. Because space is limited, we strongly recommend applying early.
Before submitting, applicants should make sure their resume is up to date, free of typos and formatting errors, and clearly includes any relevant political, government, nonprofit, campaign, advocacy, or related experience they have.
Approved applicants will receive additional information about accessing and participating in the virtual event.
Applicants who want help improving their resume can also use Republican Jobs' resume tools.
Is there a fee for state or federal legislative offices to participate?
No. State and federal legislative offices may participate in the career fair at no cost, including receiving a virtual table and promoting available positions.
Nonprofits, political consulting firms, campaigns, and other participating organizations must select a paid employer or sponsorship package to host a virtual table or promote positions during the career fair.
Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for legislative offices to connect with qualified candidates for state capitol and post-election hiring needs.
How do the sponsorship and employer packages work?
Participating organizations can choose from several employer, advertising, and sponsorship packages based on the level of recruiting access and visibility they want during the career fair.
Depending on the package selected, benefits may include a virtual table, job postings, access to applicant resumes, employer branding, event promotion, email exposure, and additional advertising opportunities before, during, and after the event.
Organizations looking for additional visibility or a customized package can contact our team for more information.
Why should I join the Virtual Career Fair instead of a traditional job fair?
The Capitol Jobs Network Virtual Career Fair is designed specifically for careers in politics, government, nonprofits, consulting, advocacy, and related organizations.
Instead of attending a general job fair with employers from dozens of unrelated industries, applicants can focus their time on connecting directly with organizations hiring within the political and government space.
Because the event is completely virtual, applicants can participate from anywhere without the cost or time associated with travel. Attendees can explore multiple employers, review available opportunities, visit virtual tables, and connect with hiring teams.
This is especially valuable during state capitol and post-election hiring, when many organizations are looking to fill positions within a relatively short period of time.
Is there a fee for applicants to participate?
No. There is no fee for applicants to apply for or attend the Virtual Career Fair.
Applicants must still complete the application process and be approved to participate, but there is no cost to attend if accepted.
Employers, sponsors, and other participating organizations may select from paid employer, advertising, or sponsorship packages, with the exception of state and federal legislative offices, which may participate at no cost.
What are the technical requirements to participate in the Virtual Career Fair?
Participants will need a stable internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a working camera and microphone.
For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer, testing your camera and microphone in advance, and joining from a quiet location with a reliable internet connection.
If you experience technical issues during the event, please use the Need Help section in the event sidebar for assistance.
How long is the Virtual Career Fair?
The Capitol Jobs Network Virtual Career Fair is an 8-hour online event.
Applicants do not need to remain online for the full eight hours. Attendees can log in throughout the event, visit employer tables, review available opportunities, and connect with participating organizations based on their availability.
Do employers need to attend the Virtual Career Fair live?
No. Employers are not required to be actively online during the entire Virtual Career Fair in order to participate or receive applicant resumes.
Virtual tables remain available throughout the event, allowing candidates to learn about participating organizations, review open positions, and submit their information even when an employer representative is not online.
Employers who choose to participate live may offer scheduled live hours, chat with candidates, hold video conversations, answer questions, give presentations, or conduct one-on-one conversations. Each participating organization can determine its own live availability.
Being available live provides additional opportunities to interact directly with candidates, but live attendance is not required to participate or receive resumes. This applies to participating legislative offices as well.
How can employers contact Republican Jobs for more information?
Employers interested in participating in the career fair, reserving a virtual table, purchasing a sponsorship or advertising package, or learning more about available options can contact [email protected].
Our team can help determine the appropriate participation level based on your hiring needs, organization type, and desired level of visibility.
State and federal legislative offices may also contact us directly about complimentary participation.
How will the career fair ensure quality interactions and prevent spam or unrelated inquiries?
The Virtual Career Fair is a curated event, not an open-access job board.
Applicants must apply and be approved before receiving access. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis based on factors including relevant experience, application quality, and the professionalism of submitted materials.
We review resumes for issues such as typos, incomplete information, poor formatting, and failure to include relevant political or professional experience when applicable.
Our goal is to give participating employers access to a more focused pool of candidates while reducing spam, unrelated inquiries, and applicants who are not a fit for the types of positions being offered.
Why should I sponsor the Virtual Career Fair?
Sponsoring the Virtual Career Fair gives your organization direct access to a pre-vetted pool of political, legislative, nonprofit, and conservative talent while increasing your organization&'#x27;'s visibility within the political community.
Sponsorship opportunities can provide enhanced branding and exposure before, during, and after the event, depending on the package selected.
Sponsorship is also an option for organizations that are not actively hiring but want to promote their brand, products, services, or organization to political professionals and participating employers.
How do employers interact with candidates during the Virtual Career Fair?
Employers who participate live can interact with candidates through chat, video conversations, and other real-time features available through their virtual table.
Employers can use these conversations to answer applicant questions, discuss open positions, meet promising candidates, and schedule follow-up interviews.
Organizations may also participate in webinars, presentations, networking sessions, or other scheduled programming during the event.
What types of employers participate in the Virtual Career Fair?
The Virtual Career Fair brings together organizations across the political, legislative, nonprofit, advocacy, and consulting space.
Participating employers may include state and federal legislative offices, nonprofit organizations, political consulting firms, campaigns, advocacy organizations, and other groups hiring political or government talent.
Positions may span areas including policy, communications, digital, operations, fundraising, research, legislative affairs, field, and other political or government-related roles.
The mix of participating employers varies by event, with a strong focus on organizations hiring for state capitol, post-election, entry-level, and mid-level opportunities.
How many people attended the previous Virtual Career Fair?
Our 2024 Virtual Career Fair brought together more than 5,000 applicants, nearly 2,000 accepted attendees, 100+ legislative openings, and 54 participating organizations plus legislative offices.
We expect the 2026 Virtual Career Fair to continue building on that participation, with employers representing legislative offices, nonprofits, political consulting firms, campaigns, and other political organizations.
